According to the Angelreisen Hamburg fishing tour, a German fisherman has recently caught an enormous 515-pound halibut off the coast of Norway. The massive fish was caught on a fishing trip by Marco Liebenow with the help of three other men.
The fish was so large that it could not fit on the boat, so they towed the fish back to harbor alongside their boat. At 8.6-feet long and 515-pounds large, the halibut may be the largest caught ever. The current record was set in 1996 when a 459-pound Pacific halibut was caught off the Alaskan coast. Atlantic halibut have been reported to be able to grow as long as 15-feet and upwards of 700-pounds.
